Stock market update: BSE MidCap index rises 1%; Future Retail surges 10%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE MidCap index was trading on a positive note at 01:57PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of IDFC First Bank (up 11.77 per cent), Future Retail (up 9.95 per cent), Bajaj Holdings & Investment (up 7.06 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 5.65 per cent) and Endurance Techno (up 5.54 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Bharat Electronics (down 2.87 per cent), Muthoot Finance (down 2.19 per cent), ABB India Ltd (down 1.96 per cent), LIC Housing Finance (down 1.88 per cent) and Indian Raily Catering And Tourism (down 1.33 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 1.17 per cent up at 16628.22 around 01:57PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 91.50 points at 12950.55, while the BSE Sensex was up 288.25 points at 44170.5.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 14 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JSW Energy, BHEL and IDFC First Bank Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Gland Pharma Ltd., Zensar Tech, Wockhardt, Equitas Small Finance Bank Ltd. and Alkyl Amines hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Pazel International Ltd., S & S Power Switchgear Ltd., Jump Networks Ltd., Goblin India Ltd., Sudal Industries Ltd., K&R Rail Engineering Ltd., Square Four Projects India Ltd., Shivom Investment & Consultancy Ltd., Rainbow Denim Ltd. and Chandrima Mercantiles Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
