NEW DELHI: India has terminated the anti-dumping investigation on imports of Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) coming from Kuwait, Oman, Singapore and UAE. The duty probe began on the basis of an application filed by Reliance Industries Limited, which withdrew the application last week.
“Vide letter dated November 18, 2020, the Applicant withdrew the application filed in the subject matter stating that in view of the current situation, they have withdrawn the aforesaid application with a liberty to resubmit the same,” Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) said in a notification
MEG is a major feedstock used to produce polyester fibres, films and resins besides adhesives, inks and cellophane.
India Glycols Limited had supported the application filed by RIL.
“In view of the aforesaid request made by the domestic industry, Reliance Industries Limited…the Authority hereby terminates the investigation initiated on December 9, 2019,” DGTR said in a notification.
The government, in April, dropped an anti-dumping investigation over MEG imports from Saudi Arabia after RIL had sought termination of the investigation.
