New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' inaugurated 46 online Atal Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and AICTE Training and Learning (Atal) Academy in an online ceremony on Monday.
Expressing happiness that the AICTE has always been ready to promote quality improvement in technical education, Dr Pokhriyal said, "this is a unique initiative to inspire and train faculty members from other prestigious institutions."
He said all these faculty development programmes will be conducted by IITs, NITs, IIITs, NITTTRs and some other institutions across the country.
On the success of the programme, Dr Pokhriyal said, "it is heartening to see the present size of Atal Academy as 11 Atal Academies were announced in September 2019. This year, more than 1,000 online Atal Academy FDPs are planned and one lakh participants will be trained."
He said it was a pleasure to be associated with any such scheme which had a direct impact on education. Apart from this, he also spoke of the provisions for training of teachers in the new education policy.
In this challenging time of Corona pandemic, 499 online FDPs have been conducted so far to improve the skills of teachers associated with AICTE, in which more than 70,000 teachers of high technical educational institutions of the country have been trained.
Significantly, 1000 online FDPs have been planned, which will benefit one lakh participants.
On the occasion, AICTE President Prof Anil Sahasrabuddhe, Vice President Professor M P Poonia, Prof Rajiv Kumar, Atal Academy President Dr Ravindra Kumar Soni and other teachers were present.
