Recently, the Uttar Pradesh tourism department has come up with the idea of developing Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Chandauli and adjacent areas into eco-tourism destinations.

In Sonbhadra, a tourist bungalow will be set up in an area of five acres and adventure activities like water sports, rock climbing, trekking, etc., have also been initiated over there to endorse eco-tourism and bring adventure sports options to the forefront.

To quote Kirtimaan Srivastava, tourism officer of the Mirzapur division, “We hope to initiate the construction of the tourist bungalow in the next six months and the district magistrate of Sonbhadra already held a discussion on the detailed action plan with the members of the Tourism Welfare Association. Bio toilets will also be constructed at various tourist spots.”

In addition, Rs. 281.37 lakh have been sanctioned for the Way Finding Traffic Solution as well.

Signboards with details of the tourist spot are being constructed at different tourist spots and destinations. So far, work of Rs. 25 lakh has been completed. Tour operators are busy doing promotion about film tourism as well, he added.

“Beautification work is being carried out at the tourist spots like Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, Salkhan Fossil Park, Vijaygarh Fort, Agori Fort and Mukha Waterfall so that they can register a prominent presence on the tourist map of the country”, Srivastava said.

Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, in September, had declared to change the airstrip in Sonbhadra into an airport.

In addition to opening new vistas of development and generating employments in the region, the airport will boost up tourism activities as well.
