Lucknow, Nov 23 (UNI) The concern expressed by Uttar Pradesh government over 'poor' handling of the pandemic by the Delhi government has not been baseless, now even the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court have come down heavily on Delhi government , asking it to file a status report by November 27.
The Apex Court was also critical of the performance by the Maharashtra and Kerala governments.
A three-judge Bench of the SC headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan on Monday said the Covid situation in Delhi has deteriorated over the last two weeks and it might get worse if corrective measures are not taken.
This came in a sharp contrast to the Covid management by Yogi Adityanath-led UP government, which has won laurels from World Health Organisation (WHO), Niti Ayog, RBI and none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself who showered praise on the state government for 'skillful' handling of the crisis
The efforts of the UP government are obviously under threat from the 'inefficiency' of the Kejriwal government as it is the neighbouring state, the UP districts in NCR are exposed more than others. The Prime Minister, while inaugurating the 23 drinking water projects in Sonbhadra and Mirzapur in a virtual function on Sunday last, was all praise for Yogi government for it's adept management of the pandemic and taking care of migrants in an exemplary manner.
Leading from the front, UP CM is personally coordinating with the Police, Administration and Health department, CM Yogi Adityanath is now directing his government's efforts to control the virus spread in the districts bordering Delhi.
Official sources here on Monday claimed the UP government has already set up a record of most Covid tests in the country. It has done 1.80 crore Covid tests with a daily average of about 1.75 lakh tests per day. Starting from the capacity of 72 tests per day with two labs in March last, UP now has testing capacity of 1.75 lakh tests per day with 390 labs.
As far as the facilities for Covid treatment go, UP can now boast of having 674 Covid hospitals with a total of 1.57 lakh beds, including beds with ICU facilities in all 75 districts of the state.
