COVID toll climbs to 236, positive cases reach 23400

Imphal, November 22 2020: COVID-19 death toll as well as positive cases have been rising continuously in the State with three more deaths registered during the last 24 hours.

Three individuals aged 61 (male, Imphal West), 45 (male, Thoubal) and 74 (male, Bishnupur) expired at RIMS and Shija Hospital during the last 24 hours, conveyed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.

In the meantime, 382 people including 23 from Lilong and Wangjing-Tentha Assembly segments and 76 personnel of CAPF were tested positive at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, CMC, Escent Diagnostics, Shija Hospital, Christian Hospital, Hillside Hospital, Raj Medicity, RD Wing, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Churachandpur and Babina Diagnostics.

The 306 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (127), Imphal East (66), Thoubal (35), Bishnupur (15), Kakching (3), Chandel (1), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (12), Tengnoupal (3), Churachandpur (38), Senapati (2) and Kangpokpi (2) .

All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.

On the other hand, 205 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (127), RIMS (8), JNIMS (3), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (1), Lanva (3), CCC UNACCO (19), RD Wing (10), Sadbhavna (2), Kakching (7), Ukhrul (13), Bal Bhavan (5), Thoubal (1), Lamding (3), Kamjong (2) and Kasom Khullen (1).The total number of positive cases has reached 23400 (general population 20353, Central security personnel 3047) .

This is inclusive of 3146 active cases (general population 2857, Central security personnel 289) and 20018 discharged cases (general population 17264, Central security personnel 2754) .

The recovery rate as on Sunday is 85.54 per cent.

During the targeted testing done in Wangjing-Tentha Assembly Constituency, 17 people were found infected by the virus out of 105 samples tested today.

In Lilong AC, five out of 42 samples were found positive.

Further, out of 221 samples tested today in Imphal West, 94 were found positive.

The positive cases include nine from Uripok and four residents/staff of the Chief Minister's bungalow.

Meanwhile, four of a family and three members of another family have been found infected by the virus at Heingang, Imphal East.

The targeted testing will continue tomorrow at Wangjing-Tentha AC.
