Flights and temperature-controlled areas are being kept ready at major airports in India for immediate transport after the Kovid-19 vaccine is created. Operators who transport goods by air have also started preparations. At a time when the Indian government is in touch with the world's leading pharma companies making vaccines, these preparations will help provide vaccines to citizens early next year.

Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is said to be the largest 'pharma gate' in the country, where medicines are transported.

According to officials here, operators will be given flexible time slots to transport vaccines. They will get a chance to change the flight date and time. Here, the truck loading and loading areas, X-ray machines, and unit load devices will be available throughout the time.

According to the spokesperson of Delhi International Airport, 1.5 million tonnes of goods are transported annually from the two cargo terminals here. Chambers made to hold goods in minus 20 degrees are also being kept ready keeping in view the transport of Kovid vaccine.

According to various air cargo operators, delivering vaccines on a large scale and in a short time in India will be a challenging task, so special preparations are needed. These include Blue Dart has six 757 Boeing cargo carriers. He is also preparing to deploy charter aircraft when needed.

In view of the special needs of vaccines, it has set up its own special pharma-condition storerooms in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, and Bangalore.
