Indian market opened on a bullish note on a broad-based positive Asian stocks market outside Japan's Nikkei, as Covid-19 vaccine drives investors sentiment. Sensex has clocked a new record high of 44,271.15 in the opening session, while Nifty 50 was eyeing 13,000-mark.
At around 09.21 am, Sensex was trading at 44,126.54 up 244.29 points or 0.56% and Nifty 50 was performing at 12,946.60 above 87.55 points or 0.68%.
Energy, power, metal and oil stocks were among top picks on exchanges.
BSE Energy surges 1.65%, while 1% gain each was recorded in BSE Metal, BSE Power and BSE Oil & Gas.
Top gainers on Sensex were -
IndusInd Bank (+3.5%), Bajaj Finserv (+2.8%),
Reliance Industries (+2.5%), NTPC (+1.58%) and Bajaj Finance (+1.54%).
Top underperforming stocks on the 30-scrip index were -
Bharti Airtel (-1.2%), M&M (-1%),
HDFC (-0.98%), Asian Paint (-0.74%) and Axis Bank (-0.45%).
Stocks that will remain in focus today are - BEML, Motherson Sumi, JSPL, Midhani, TCS, HDFC Bank, Bharat Dynamics, RIL, Future Groups stocks, banking stocks and Bharti Airtel.
China's Shanghai SE Composite Index surged by nearly 1%, Australia ASX All Ordinaries and Taiwan TSEC 50 Index also records near 1% gain. Meanwhile, South Korea's KOSPI index jumped by nearly 2%. However, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was trading on a subdued level.
Japan's Nikkei 225 currently plunged over 100 points or 0.42%.
