Square Enix has unveiled a new free-to-play Tomb Raider action arcade game coming to mobile devices in 2021.
Tomb Raider Reloaded is being developed by Emerald City Games, the studio behind mobile titles like Lionheart: Dark Moon and Stormblades, and will be published by Square Enix London Mobile. Not much else is known about the game, though Square Enix said to "stay tuned for more news." The studio also shared a teaser trailer but it doesn't showcase any gameplay.
The teaser trailer, above, has a very ominous atmosphere, as the camera zooms out from a suspended compass-looking item to the various monsters and traps guarding it before we see Lara Craft in her iconic green tank and brown shorts. The art style is bubbly and rounded, reminiscent of some Pixar work and quite indicative of Emerald City Games' previous titles.
Emerald City Games is a Canadian-based independent developer known for its mobile games. Founded in 2008, the studio has dabbled in an array of genres, including action-adventure and RPG. The studio's last game was the free-to-play strategy simulator G.I. Joe: War on Cobra.
