Brick kiln owner from Thane arrested along with 2 others for kidnapping & beating tribal

Thane, Nov 23 (UNI) Three persons including the owner of a brick kiln from Shirgaon of Badlapur has been arrested by the police on Monday on the alleged charges of kidnapping a katkari tribal laborer taking him to Badlapur and beating him up blue and black the police said.

The SHO at the Ghoti police station of Nashik district told this correspondent that the trio including the brick kiln owner Amol Bhosale have been charged under sections 363,452,374,323 of the IPC and also sections 16 and 17 of the Eradication of Bonded Labour system the police said.

The police said quoting the complaint by the wife of the victim, Prakash Gode, 35, of Dahalewadi, of Igatpuri, that the family did not not have any source of income, and even to eat and did not not have a penny to support the family. Hence they were in search of jobs for them. Through their relative, they came to know about the accused who was employing laborers in the brick kiln.

It was just before Diwali they were given an advance of Rs. 25,000 by the accused for their proposed work in the brick kiln.

The couple due to certain reasons could not not reach the said location for the work on account of which the accused along with two others came to their house in the small hours at 4.00 a.m. on Sunday and called him out and reminded of the advance given to them.

The couple expressed their inability to come to work immediately after Diwali and offered to refund the money taken by them.

The accused would not not listen to them and simply pulled out the victim of the house and dumped him and took him to Badlapur and beat him blue and black the police said.

The victim has been since rescued and the accused arrested for practicing bonded labor system. The police said that the wife approached the activists of the Shramajivi Sanghatana an organization working for the uplift of tribals in the state who helped them reach the police station the police said.

The accused were produced before the local magistrate who remanded them into police custody for two days.

75 new COVID 19 cases reported in Goa, no death
