Gujarat reports 1,495 new Covid-19 cases, 13 deaths

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat on Sunday reported 1,495 fresh coronavirus positive cases, taking the total count of infections to 1,97,412, the state health department said.
Sunday's surge in cases came a day after the state recorded the highest single-day spike of 1,515 cases since March.
With 13 more people succumbing to the infections in the day, including eight deaths in Ahmedabad, two in Surat, and one each in Banaskantha, Gandhinagar and Sabarkantha, the total count of fatalities mounted to 3,859, the health department said.
A total of 1,167 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recoveries in the state to 1,79,953.
The COVID-19 case recovery rate in the state now stands at 91.16 per cent.
The state is now left with 13,600 active cases.
With 63,739 tests being conducted in the state during the day, the number of samples tested for coronavirus detection so far rose to 72,35,184.
At 341, Ahmedabad reported the highest number of new cases in the state in the day, followed by 266 in Surat, 166 in Vadodara and 145 in Rajkot, the department said.
Among other districts, Ganchinagar recorded 94 new cases, Mehsana 60, Jamnagar 40, Kutch 31, Patan 30, Banaskantha 28, Junagadh 27, Panchmahal 24, Bhavnagar and Kheda 23, Sabarkantha 21, Mahisagar 20, Amreli 17, Surendranagar 16, Anand, Aravalli, Dahod, and Morbi 15 each, etc.
In the Union Territory (UT) of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,293 with four new cases coming to light in the day including two each in Daman and DNH, officials said.
A total of 3,293 patients have recovered in the UT which has 39 active cases, they added.
Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 1,97,412, new cases 1,495, deaths 3,859, discharged 1,79,953, active cases 13,600 and people tested so far 72,35,184.
