PM Narendra Modi will start Jal Jeevan mission projects in UP today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for rural drinking water supply projects in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh under the Jalajeevan Mission. In this virtual program, PM Modi will also share his experiences with the members of Village Water and Sanitation Committee, Pani Samiti. On August 15, 2019, under the Har Ghar Nal Yojana in the country, the launch of the Jal Jeevan Mission was announced.

42 lakh people will be benefited from the launch of this scheme. For this, village water and sanitation committees, or water committees, have been formed in these 2,995 villages. They will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of water distribution. This project will be completed in 24 months, it will cost more than five thousand crores.

The central government plans to provide tap water to all rural households across the country by 2024 under the Jal Jeevan Mission. At the time of the launch of this scheme, 18.93 crore rural households i.e. only 17 percent of people were getting water from the tap. Despite the corona epidemic in the last 15 months, 2.63 crore families have been provided with a tap water supply. With this, 5.86 crore families are getting water from the tap so far, that is, more than 30 percent of the tap water is being received so far.
