Amid the growing infection of Corona, the Parliamentary Committee on Health has reported that amidst the epidemic, private hospitals have recovered arbitrary money in the name of treatment. The committee said that private hospitals are taking arbitrary money due to increasing infection, lack of adequate beds in government hospitals, and lack of clear guidelines for treatment. Patients can be saved by fixing a reasonable rate of treatment.

Committee head Ram Gopal Yadav has sought to issue guidelines on the treatment of Kovid-19 in a report submitted to Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Kovid-19 and its management. The first report of the parliamentary committee on government functioning in the Corona case states that the expenditure on health facilities of 130 crore population is very low.

Shabby health facilities are the biggest obstacle to dealing with the epidemic. The committee recommended increasing government spending on public health facilities and said, "There is a need to spend 2.5 percent of GDP on health facilities in the next two years." Along with this, it has been suggested to make the adequate infrastructure of health facilities in the country by 2025.

Arbitrary lack of clear guidelines

The committee said, lack of adequate government facilities makes it difficult for people and large numbers of patients die. In the Corona period, this problem has become more complicated. People are falling prey to the arbitrariness of private hospitals. There is no restriction on private hospitals due to a lack of clear treatment guidelines. This has made the poor and middle class extremely difficult.

2.5 percent of GDP should be spent on health

The National Health Policy 2017 has set a target of increasing government spending on health services to 2.5 percent of GDP by 2025. Whereas in 2017 it was just 1.7 percent of GDP.
