THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 123 nominations submitted for local body polls were rejected in the district following scrutiny. This leaves with a total of 13,972 candidates for the election. 963 nominations were received for corporation elections and 5 were rejected. In municipalities, 1201 nominations were received and 17 were rejected.
10,454 nominations were received for elections to gram panchayat wards of which 73 nominations were rejected. In district panchayat, 19 nominations were rejected while nine nominations were rejected at block panchayat level. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 23.
All the fronts have been engaged in active discussion with rebel candidates to back away from the contest. Some of the candidates who were denied seats in elections had chosen to submit nominations as rebel candidates.
