KOLKATA: The body of a two-year-old boy who had gone missing while playing infront of his house beside a canal at Salt Lake Polenite on Thursday afternoon, was fished out from the water body, around 200 metres from their home early on Saturday.
Police said that Sujay Biswas was playing with his 10-year-old brother and some kids of the same age at a vacant plot infront of their home when suddenly he went missing. The parents thought their son was kidnapped and lodged a complaint of abduction at Electronic Complex police station in Salt Lake Sector V. All the houses of the Polenite canal side homes were searched one by one and sniffer dogs were also put into service. A search team also scanned the canal with a fishing net for the last two days but nothing could be found.
On Saturday morning, one of the search parties spotted a partially decomposed body of the missing baby floating in the canal, around 200 metres from their home. The body was sent to Bidhannagar sub-divisional hospital and a post-mortem examination was conducted at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Cops said as per initial report, the boy had died of drowning.
