Rajasthan boy wins Rural IT Quiz at Bengaluru Tech Summit-2020

BENGALURU: Rajasthan schoolboy bags the top spot in the Rural IT Quiz organized by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in partnership with the Department of Electronics, IT BT and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka.

Himanshu Maakar of Swami Vivekanand Government Model School, Suratgarh Rajasthan won the final round of the Quiz, which was held on November 20 as part of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2020. Maakar won a TCS education scholarship of Rs 1 lakh.

Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS2020) is Karnataka's flagship annual technology event. The summit, which has gone virtual this year, is being held from November 19 to 21.

The quiz was held as a combination of online tests and virtual quiz shows, providing students from rural areas with an engaging digital experience. Students from six States - Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh participated in the program virtually.

The Finals had five segments – Byte Abundance, Tech Vision, Tech Cloud, Tech Agile and Tech Ecosystem – which tested students’ knowledge in the IT-sphere and prompted them to think laterally.


The runners-up of the Quiz was Aman Kumar Anjana of Government School for Excellence, Dewas Madhya Pradesh.


C N Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Electronics, IT, Bt, Science & Technology and Skill Development, Government of Karnataka who was the Chief Guest on the occasion congratulated the winners. Sunil Deshpande, Head of Operations – TCS, Bangalore, presented the Winner a TCS education scholarship of Rs 1 lakh and the Runner-up, Rs 50,000.


The other participants who competed with Maakar and Anjana in the finals were Sakshi Hinduja from Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Wardha (Maharashtra), Paras Gathani from Shree Mahavir Jain Charitra Kalyan Ratnashram, Bhavnagar (Gujarat), Toman Sen from Government Higher Secondary School, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), and Suhas Shenoy U from Poorna Prajna PU College, Udupi (Karnataka).
