PRAYAGRAJ: Three persons died and two others critical after consuming hooch at Amilia village of Phulpur in Prayagraj district on Friday evening.
Senior police and excise officials rushed to the village and launched a probe.
Villagers told police they had bought liquor from a local shop and most began to sink after consuming the brew.
One man has been detained for interrogation.
IG, Prayagraj zone, K P Singh said, three persons of Amilia village died after consuming hooch, which was purchased from a local vend, according to villagers.
Two villagers are being treated at a local hospital, IG, Prayagraj zone, K P Singh further added.
