Police refutes Mehbooba’s allegation about summoning PDP leader

Police refutes Mehbooba’s allegation about summoning PDP leader

Srinagar, Nov 21 (UNI) Refuting the allegation of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that a leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was directed to stay in police station for 12 hours daily, a police spokesman said during any election released militants and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) are being called to update their profiles.

He said during the elections, Srinagar police calls released militants and OGWs to Police Stations (PSs) to update their profiles.

Similarly, he said, Rouf Bhaat was also called to the PS for updation of his personal profile, as he was associated with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit.

Therefore, all allegations are refuted, he said.

PDP president Mehbooba had alleged that a PDP leader was summoned to a police station in Srinagar on Friday and asked to report and stay in the station from 0800 hrs to 2000 hrs everyday till Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections are over.

He said as usual the justification was given that the order had come from senior authorities.

“Is this going to be the new norm for elections in J&K,” Ms Mehbooba asked LG Manoj Sinha.
