Waqf Board' Sr officer, Rohtak caught red-handed taking Rs 50,000

Chandigarh, Nov 21 (UNI) The State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), Haryana has caught Alokpanth, Estate Officer and Naseer, Rent Collector of Waqf Board, Rohtak red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000.
Sharing more details about the same, a Bureau spokesman said Mr. Harish Kumar resident of Meham submitted a complaint to the Vigilance Bureau that he has applied for taking a 220 Sq Yard plot on rent in the Waqf Board. Initially, the above said officials of Waqf Board had demanded bribe of Rs. 1,60,00 for the same (Rs 80,000 before and 80,000 after the approval) but after negotiation, they agreed for Rs. 50,000.
On receiving the complaint, a criminal case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The team of Vigilance Bureau led by Inspector Pardeep Kumar carried out a raid and caught accused Naseer, Rent Collector and Alokpanth, Estate Officer red-handed in the presence of the Duty Magistrate Mr. Suresh Chander, Naib Tehsildar, Rohatk. Both the accused have been interrogated thoroughly and produced before the Court.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
