New Delhi, Nov 21(UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled his government's plan for the crucial energy sector, which, he said, has immense potential for growth, entrepreneurship and employment.
He said that Energy Security related startup ecosystem is being strengthened and a fund has been created for students and professionals.
The prime minister was addressing virtually the convocation of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, which saw the inauguration of the Innovation and Incubation Centre – Technology Business Incubation’, Tanslational Research Centre.
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, who is also the president of the university, said the future of energy is being shaped by unprecedented changes.
By the middle of the 21st Century, the world will use twice the amount of energy it is using today, and India's per-capita energy needs will be more than twice in the next two decades, he said.
India, Ambani said, needs to pursue two goals - to become an economic superpower and a "green and clean energy" superpower.
"We need disruptive solutions in renewables, low carbon and carbon recycle technologies to achieve this goal. We need breakthroughs in new energy sources such as green and blue hydrogen.
We also need great innovations in energy storage, saving and utilisation," he said.
