Dasarathan survives scare, enters Round 3 in All India Snooker tourney

Chennai, Nov 21 (UNI) Manoj Dasarathan of Towers Club survived
a scare from Palani (QBG), before entering the third round of the
Ajay Rastogi Memorial All India Open Snooker Championship here
on Saturday.
In a close contest, Manoj managed to win the first frame with
a 38 point margin, only to slip up the advantage in the next
two frames when Palani appeared in complete control.
Manoj bounced back by taking the fourth frame to make it 2-2
by taking full advantage of his opponent's errors.
It was a see-saw battle in the fifth in which Palani took a slender
lead of 22 points initially, only to see Manoj narrowing the gap.
However, Palani's solid potting helped him win the fifth frame
with a 35 point margin and Manoj stretched the contest to the
decider by winning the sixth.
The seventh and final frame was an edge of the seat thriller.
Manoj was leading by 34 points, with one red on the table and
lost his chance. Palani managed to pot the red, but failed to
position for the colors.
Manoj took the yellow, Palani potted the green and brown, but
failed to play safe on the blue.
