Coimbatore: MP P R Natrajan on Friday inaugurated the construction of storm water drains at Chellamal Nagar at ward 42.
The drains will be constructed at a cost of Rs 14.9 lakh.
The project will benefit more than 100 families residing in the locality.
Despite several requests to construct storm water drains, the city corporation could not do it due to fund crunch.
When the issue was taken up to the knowledge of the CPM MP, he allotted the required money from the members of Parliament local area development scheme.
Corporation officials and CPM members participated in the ceremony.
