LONDON: Back home, she led a life on the streets – last year coming under a running train in Faridabad. Rocky, who miraculously survived that accident and now walks on prosthetic legs, landed in London on Thursday, where her new family awaits her.
The special passenger didn’t seem too anxious in her crate as she boarded a KLM flight from IGI airport to the British capital 4,758 miles away – a journey unknown to those in the cabin but followed with anticipation on both sides, particularly in NCR where saying goodbye was hard for the group of animal lovers that had rescued her and nursed her back to her feet.
Rocky was found on a railway track in a severely injured state by an RPF constable.In London, Rocky was welcomed with a toy and a treat by volunteers of Wild At Heart Foundation, which will evaluate further treatment options before the dog heads to her new home in the British countryside.
The family adopted Rocky after watching a video about her accident and rescue made by People For Animals (PFA).
Ravi Dubey of the PFA trust told TOI, “We are grateful to the foundation for their initiative. Rocky will now stay with the family that came forward to adopt our favourite dog. She settled in last night, slept for the most part, woke up at 5am and wanted to play. It’s cold in the UK right now, so she will have to get used to that.”
