Now, new car owners to get registration no. in 24 hours

Noida: New vehicle owners can now get their registration numbers within 24 hours as the regional transport office (RTO) has started online submission of documents in showrooms using digital signatures, said officials.
To get registration numbers for their vehicles, the buyers will first be required to submit all sale documents, including vehicle sale slip, insurance cover, and address proof such as aadhaar card or passport and bank hypothecation letter if the vehicle is purchased on loan from a bank along with his photo. The showroom will then be needed to upload the documents along with a digital signature on the UP RTO website (parivahan.gov.in). Notably, it is required that the showroom is located within the district. If all criteria are met, new registration number will be issued within 24 hours.
The announcement was made by RTO officials in a meeting with GB Nagar district magistrate Suhas LY. “We had an online meeting with officials from the district transport department. I was apprised that new registration numbers of vehicles are being provided online within 24 hours. This will help the residents from the long wait as well as unnecessary paperwork,” said the DM. While AK Pandey, regional transport officer (RTO), said the move was planned from November 6 and executed on November 10. He said they have already given new registration numbers of about 650 vehicles.
“This is done to avoid unnecessary delay — of over 15-20 days to sometimes a month — for sale files to move despite the customer having paid the full price of the vehicle,” said Pandey. Ankit Sharma, sales head from the Hyundai showroom in Sector 63, said they have begun online documentation.
“Sometimes a delay occurs on the customer’s end when all documents are not in place, but we wait for them and submit all relevant documents online for allotment of registration number,” said Sharma.
