BENGALURU: The Karnataka government will soon enact a law to ban online games, home minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Friday.
Some states have already introduced laws to ban such games. “We are studying them to ascertain what has been done to ban the games,” he said.
The minister said several youngsters are losing money and valuables after gambling on online gaming sites. “We have received many complaints from the public and from parents. So, we need to ban online games,” Bommai said.
237 personnel get CM’s medal
CM BS Yediyurappa, Bommai and state police chief Praveen Sood distributed CM’s police medal to 237 personnel for meritorious service-.“We are honouring each of the medal winners with Rs 10,000 cash reward,” Yediyurappa said.
Reiterating that women’s safety is his government’s top priority, the CM said women’s police stations will be converted into one-stop centres for addressing all grievances.
Bommai said the government is focusing on cracking cybercrime cases too. “We have set up CEN police stations and are strengthening them. Our police force will continue their crackdown against drug peddlers till the last one is arrested in the state.”
