Coronavirus Covid 19 India Delhi Mumbai cases, Highlights: India’s coronavirus numbers witnessed a steady increase on Saturday. The data released by the Union Home Ministry showed that around 46,000 Indians were infected with novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours. More than 500 individuals lost their lives due to Covid-19 complications. The only point of relief was that according to the latest data, for straight eleven days, the number of active cases has been registered under five lakh. Another important takeaway is the recovery rate. India is among the few nations across the world that have a remarkable recovery rate. The health updates released by the government on official portal showed that the recovery rate in India stood at almost 94%.

A day before on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-profile review meet to understand the key developments in the national strategy against the coronavirus pandemic. The focus of the meeting, according to the latest reports, was to see the preparations about the national vaccination drive.

While the Central government is busy in taking steps based on the latest vaccine updates, the state governments are planning to reintroduce night curfews in several metro cities. Though there has been no official announcement so far, there are reports that the Centre may also reimpose night curfew in Delhi. Major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and National Capital of Delhi are reporting the majority of the caseload. With unlock guidelines helping in reigniting the engine of the Indian economy, the grim side-effect is the spike in coronavirus cases.
