Benchmark indices reverse decline, Sensex jumps 395 points to 43,995

Nifty rides up 101 points to 12,873

The benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty, which were trading in the red in the morning session, surged up in afternoon trading on Friday.

At 2;25 pm, Sensex was up 395 points or 0.91 per cent at 43,995, while the Nifty rode up 101 points or 0.79 per cent at 12,873.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Bajaj FinServe, Titan, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Bank and Nestle India. The laggards were Reliance, Sun Pharma, Hindustan Unilever, ONGC and L&T.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, telecom spurted 3 per cent, consumer durables gained 2.5 per cent, while finance was up 1.66 per cent.

PTI adds: In the previous session, the Sensex ended 580.09 points or 1.31 per cent lower at 43,599.96, while Nifty closed 166.55 points or 1.29 per cent down at 12,771.70.

Foreign institutional investors remained net buyers in the capital market as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,180.61 crore on Thursday, according to provisional exchange data.
