Odisha Assembly mourns demise of former members, covid warriors

Bhubaneswar, Nov 20 (UNI) The opening day of the winter session of Odisha Assembly
was today adjourned till 1500 hours after adopting the obituary reference to condole the
demise of former members and covid warriors.
As soon as the house assembled for the day, chief minister and leader of the house
Naveen Patnaik moved the obituary reference to condole the death of former Speaker
Sarat Kar, former Government Chief whip Gurupada Nanda and former MLA Kartikeswar
Patra who passed away in the intervening period in between the monsoon and the current
session of the Assembly.
The house unanimously paid tribute to the former leaders and all corona fighters who
laid down their lives for the service of the people during the corona pandemic in the state.

Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra , CPI leader Laxam Munda , Speaker S N
Patro expressed their profound grief over the death and expressed their sympathies to
the bereaved family members.
The house observed one minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
Speaker S N Patro adjourned the house at 1123hrs till 1500 hours after the house
passed the Obituary reference.
In the post lunch session, State Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the first
supplementary statement of expenditure for 2020-2021.
