Coronavirus: 57-hour curfew will be implemented in Ahmedabad from tonight

Like Delhi, the coronavirus cases are increasing continuously in Ahmedabad. In view of this, the Gujarat government has decided that from 20 November to 23 November, there will be a curfew in Ahmedabad daily from 9 am to 6 am. During this time only the shops of milk and medicine will be allowed to open.

It has been decided to impose a 57-hour weekend curfew under the corporation limits from Friday to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat.

A release said that in view of the prevailing situation, the Gujarat government has stopped its decision to open secondary schools and colleges in the state from 23 November.

Officials said the curfew would begin in Ahmedabad city from 9 pm on Friday (November 20), which would continue till six in the morning on Monday (23). Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar Gupta said that only milk and drug shops would remain open during this 'full curfew'.

Gupta has been appointed as the Special Officer by the Gujarat Government and his job is to supervise the functioning of coronavirus infection in the Ahmedabad municipality.

Gupta had announced in the evening that the night curfew would remain in force from 9 am to 6 am daily from Friday (November 20) until further orders. However, hours later, Gupta said that the full curfew would be in force from Friday night to Monday morning. He clarified that the night curfew would be effective from 9 pm Monday in the city.

1,340 new cases of corona reported in Gujarat

Gujarat reported 1,340 new cases of coronavirus during the last 24 hours and the total number of infected in the state increased to 1,92,982 on Thursday. The state health department gave this information. During this time 1,113 patients have also become infection-free.

According to a release issued by the Health Department, the total number of dead people increased to 3,830 with the death of seven more patients in the state. 1,113 patients were discharged from hospitals on recovery. So far 1,76,475 patients have become healthy in the state. More than 54,900 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours. So far, more than 70.33 lakh tests have been conducted in the state.
