PRAYAGRAJ: Three persons died while two took ill after allegedly consuming illicit liquor at Amilia village under the limits of Phulpur police station in trans-Ganga area of Prayagraj district on Friday evening.
Upon being alerted, senior police and excise officials rushed to the spot and carried out investigations. Police said they were verifying the facts related to the incident and also from where the victims purchased the liquor.
A police officer said two more persons were admitted at a city hospital for treatment after consuming the illecit liquor. The villagers told the police that they had purchased liquor from a local shop. There condition deteriorated after consuming the liquor.
The police have picked up a man for quizzing regarding the incident.
