UP records 2,858 new nCoV cases, major spike in NCR districts

Lucknow, Nov 20 (UNI) With 2,858 fresh Coronavirus cases, tally of the pandemic in Uttar Pradesh reached to 5,21,988 on Friday, while a rapid rise in cases concentrated in seven districts mostly in the National Capital Region (NCR) adjoining Delhi.

Over 100 daily cases surfaced in these districts for the past 3 to 4 days, State Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said.

Meanwhile, the positivity rate in the state has now came down to 94.08 per cent, which was 94.18 per cent on Thursday.

A total of 4,91,131 people have recovered from the contagion including 2,220 fresh recoveries in the last 24 hours. There are 23,357 active patients in the state in which 10,395 are in home isolation, 2,167 in private hospitals and remaining persons are in government-run Covid hospitals.

With 20 fresh fatalities, the total deaths climbed to 7500, so far.

As many as 1,61,888 sample tests conducted on Thursday, taking the total tests to 1,76,36,904, highest in the country.

Around 4.68 surveillance teams have so far visited 2.80 crore houses in the state and have checked the health conditions of over 14.22 crore people.

Reports said that on Friday, Lucknow reported 382 fresh cases followed by Jaunpur 162, Prayagraj 101, Ghaziabad 255, Gautam Buddha Nagar 175 Varanasi 139 and Meerut 249 cases.

Haryana to appoint Safai Karamcharis under outsourcing policy

Dedicated Freight Corridor will open 40 pc by March
