Our Govt will be distributing STV sets encouraging Digital Education: P S Tamang

Gangtok, Nov 20 (UNI) Chief Minister P S Tamang today inaugurated 8metre Dia hemispherical sky Digital Planetarium, at Science City, Marchak East Sikkim.
He also inaugurated 52 seaters 3-D theatre, Innovation hub and Bio-Diversity gallery.
At the programme hosted by Minister for Science & Technology Karma Loday Bhutia, on the occasion of Universal Children’s Day, with the assistance of Union Ministry of Culture, Delhi, MLA Sonam Venchungpa, District Collector East and Director General National Council of Science Museums, Union Ministry of Culture, Subhashish Das were prominent among those present.
'' Information Technology and digitization is the need of the 21st century'', said PS Tamang addressing the gathering at Marchak.
Tamang greeted Children on the UCD and urged them to take advantage of these facilities and use them to advance their skills while developing an interest in Science & Technology.
He announced that his Govt will be distributing Smart Tv sets to students of class 8 to 11 to encourage Digital Education. ‘We are fully committed to extend all the help and support to our students and give them the best possible facilities,' he added.
‘It is an indoor Universe,’ said Minister K.Loday describing the planetarium, in the existing Science Centre 15 km away from Gangtok town.

Shillong, Nov 20 (UNI) Two more COVID-19 related deaths, including that of a 66-year-old doctor, took the fatality figure due to the pandemic to 106 and 173 fresh infections mounted the active case tally to 888, while 84 recoveries increased the number of recoveries to 10,158 as on Friday in Meghalaya.

U S Consulate, Asian Confluence launch 1st Academy of Women Entrepreneurs in NE

Kolkata, Nov 20 (UNI) Celebrating the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020, the U. S. Consulate General Kolkata in partnership with Asian Confluence think tank launched the White House-led “Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE)” project today through an online event that was live-streamed through U.S. Consulate Kolkata’s Facebook page.
AWE’s maiden launch in India, kicked off by U.S. Consulate Kolkata’s Acting Consul General Monica Shie, brings together 150 women entrepreneurs and early-stage business owners from five northeastern states (Nagaland, Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh), who will be mentored and supported through this two-year-long project.
