A Florida man was attacked and killed by a pack of stray dogs that still remain on the loose, say police.

Authorities say Donald Ray Allen had been out for a walk when he was mauled by the animals.

The 65-year-old’s body was found by the side of a road in the state’s Jackson County near the border with Alabama.

"Upon completing a thorough investigation, it was determined that the subject had been walking in the roadway when he suffered life-threatening injuries from an animal attack,” said the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in a statement.

”The injuries are believed to have been caused by a pack of stray dogs roaming in the area.”

Officials say that animal control officers have set traps in the area to capture the dogs.
