FMCG stocks were among top picks on Friday, after a healthy festive season. The sector has remained in focus since last month with back-to-back festivals which resulted in good traction in sales.
At around 12.42 pm, Nifty FMCG was trading at 31,348.50 up 263.30 points or 0.85%. The index has surged to an intraday high of 31,531.70.
On the index,
UBL was the top performer, trading at Rs1,090.20 up 3.62%.
UBL was followed by Emami which was trading at Rs394.60 per piece up 3.52%. The stock has gained to the day's high of Rs399.15 per piece just near its record high of Rs407.55 per piece.
Emami has announced the launch of Emasol – a complete range for home hygiene products. Emami said, so far enjoyed a leading presence in the personal care and healthcare space now makes an entry into the homecare segment for the very first time.
Other gainers were - Jubilant Foodworks (+2.78%) and
Nestle (+2.69%). A 2% surge each was seen in Godrej Consumer Products and Colgate-Palmolive.
Mcdowell, Marico, ITC, Britannia and Tata Consumer advanced by 1% each.
Varun Beverages, Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Dabur gained marginally.
However, Hindustan Unilever was the sole loser, trading at Rs2,116.80 per piece down 0.65%.
