Punjab: Khanna police arrest three persons in murder case

LUDHIANA: Ten days after the body of a youth was found in Sutlej river in Punjab's Ludhiana district, police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including his friend, for his murder.
The accused were identified as Kuldeep Singh, who runs an aluminum shop in Rampur, Gurwinder Singh of Ramgarh and Manpreet Singh of Mohan Majra.
On November 9, the body of 22 years old Manpreet Singh of Rampur had been found near Chakli Kasab village in the Machhiwara area.
Sub-inspector Gurjant Singh of Machhiwara police station said that Manpreet worked at the aluminum shop of Kuldeep Singh and both were good friends. He added that some months ago, they had an heated argument after which the deceased left the shop.
Police officials said that some months ago, unidentified persons beat up Kuldeep and he suspected that Manpreet’s hand behind it because of which he nursed enmity against him. They added that the accused had decided to teach him a lesson.
Cops said that on November 9, Manpreet was going to his village from Machhiwara and on seeing him, Kuldeep called his accomplices who asked the deceased to board the car after convincing him. They added that after making him drink alcohol, Kuldeep strangled him with wire whereas his accomplices caught hold of him.
Police officials said that after killing Manpreet, they threw his body in Sutlej river but because of low water level at that place it didn’t drown. They added that some onlookers saw the body in the river and informed the police.
Cops said that police have recovered the car used by the accused in the crime.
