Five killed and several injured in a blast in Malda

Malda, Nov 19 (UNI) At least five people were killed and several injured, some of them seriously, in a blast at a plastic factory at Sujapur in Malda district on Thursday.



The injured were rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where condition of some was stated to be critical.



The blast occurred at the crusher machine.





State Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim airdashed to the spot to oversee the situation.



The State Government announced a compensation of Rs 2 Lakh to the next kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.



Meanwhile, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed anguish at the blast.
