Cong failed to convince people about communalism: Siddaramiah

Bengaluru, Nov 19 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah on Thursday alleged that Congress has failed to convince people about the spread of communalism in the country.
Addressing an event in the KPCC office here to mark the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he said the fear of communalism was spreading in the country and the party workers had failed to convince people against it.
The former chief minister alleged that the ruling BJP had no respect for the Indian Constitution enacted by Dr B R Ambedkar and the RSS was a caste-based organisation that works to empower the upper castes.
''BJP is acting as a mask to the RSS,'' he added.
''Most people in Congress are unaware of the principles of the party. There is no benefit of attending party events just for fun. Congress activists, mainly those at the grassroots level, should be sure of the Congress' principles,'' observed Mr Siddaramaiah.
''BJP has filed a case in the Supreme Court against Women Reservation. They had opposed the Mandal Committee. Why don't the women community get these things?,'' he questioned.
Referring to the Privatisation of Mangaluru International Airport, he alleged, ''They (BJP) will get all the Airports of the country privatised. Recently, the Mangaluru International Airport was also sold to the Adani Group.''
