Malda, Nov 19 (UNI) At least five people were killed and as many injured, some of them seriously, in a blast at a plastic factory at Sujapur in Malda district on Thursday, while Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar asked the Mamata Banerjee Government to proactively contain illegal bomb making and ensure professional non-partisan investigation.
According to the Superintendent of Police of Malda, the blast occurred at the plastic crusher machine and the intensity was so severe that the bodies were completely ripped apart.
The injured were rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where the condition of some was stated to be critical.
State Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim airdashed to the spot to oversee the situation.
The State Government announced a compensation of Rs 2 Lakh to the next kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
Mr Dhankhar expressed anguish at the blast.
