BTech student mowed down by truck in Mancherial

Mancherial: A 22-year-old BTech student was killed on the spot when his two-wheeler was rammed by a sand-laden lorry at Kollur village in Chennur mandal on Wednesday night. Accroding to Kotapalli Assistant Sub-Inspector Samuel, the deceased was identified as Devulapalli Sai Krishna, a B Tech final year student, of Yapal village in Mandamarri mandal.

Sai Krishna received fatal injuries when he came under the wheels of the lorry which hit his bike resulting in instantaneous death for the lad. At the time of the mishap, he was proceeding to Chennur on a work. He was in Kollur to attend a wedding of his relative. A case was registered against Akula Nagaraju, the driver of the lorry, based on a complaint received from Ramakrishna, uncle of the victim.

Meanwhile, a large number of locals gathered at the spot and staged a protest demanding compensation and action against the trucker. They also wanted authorities concerned to stop mining of sand from Godavari, which was leading to road mishaps. They withdrew their agitation after Kotapalli Inspector Nagaraju assuring them of justice to the kin of the victim.
