Stock market update: Nifty FMCG index up 1%; ITC rises nearly 4%

NEW DELHI: Nifty FMCG index was trading on a positive note at 12:38PM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of ITC (up 3.5 per cent), United Breweries (up 3.34 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (up 2.44 per cent), United Spirits (up 2.18 per cent) and Nestle India (up 1.79 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Marico (down 1.72 per cent), P & G Hygiene (down 0.76 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (down 0.62 per cent), VBL (down 0.45 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (down 0.44 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 1.18 per cent up at 31319.4 around 12:38PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 12.60 points at 12950.85, while the BSE Sensex was up 2.55 points at 44182.6.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, BHEL and Vedanta were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Tata Chemicals, Tata Steel (PP), Tanla Solutions, Redington and Lakshmi Machine hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Jump Networks Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., SKIL Infrastructure Ltd., Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd., Silver Touch Technologies Ltd., Shri Ram Switchgears Ltd. and Deep Energy Resources Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
