Active Covid cases dip further in Bengal, Toll rises to 7,873, cases touch 4,45,505

Kolkata, Nov 19 (UNI) The total active Covid cases in Bengal decreased further on

Thursday as the recovery rate continued to grow, with the number of discharged

persons also increasing steadily.

According to the latest State Government Health bulletin, the active cases

accounted for 25,873, while the number of discharged cases stood at 4,11,759.

The percentage of discharged rose to 92.43 per cent.

The COVID-19 toll in the state rose to 7,873 with the death of 53 persons on

Thursday, while the total cases tally touched 4,45,505 with 3,620 new confirmed

cases.

The bulletin said the total number of samples tested stood at 53,89,944 with

44,263 tested in the past 24 hours.

While the city recorded the highest number of 2471 deaths so far, surrounding

districts of North 24 Parganas and Howrah came second and third respectively

with 1841 and 829 fatalities.

South 24 Parganas accounted for 526 deaths, the toll in Hooghly stood at 380,

Darjeeling 164, Paschim and Purba Midnapore 243 and 223 respectively, Malda 94,

Murshidabad 113, Nadia 202, Paschim Bardhaman 117, Purba Bardhaman 79,

Jalpaiguri 118, Uttar Dinajpur 57, Dakshin Dinajpur 56, Birbhum 66, Alipurduar 80,

Kalimpong 19, Cooch Behar 57, Purulia 37, Jhargram 14 and Bankura 84.
