Xiaomi clocks highest ever festive sales in 2020, sells over 13 million Mi, Redmi phones, smart TVs and more

The company also claims that it witnessed a significant demand for ecosystem products during festive sales.

2020's been a difficult year for the smartphone industry. Lockdowns and subsequent disruption to supply and manufacturing chains have ensured that phone makers have had to deal with a slump in phone sales. However, the recent festive period appears to have come as a fresh breath of air for phone makers who have a record number of sales this Diwali period.

Case in point, Mi India, which has announced that it sold over 13 million devices during the festive period this year. As per the information released by the company, it sold over 9 million smartphones during the festive sales, included models such as Mi 10T Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi 9 Prime Redmi 9, Redmi 9A amongst others.

The company also said that it witnessed a significant demand for ecosystem products during festive sales and sold over 4 million devices across categories like TVs, streaming devices, trimmers, smart bands, audio products, power banks etc. It further revealed that newly launched products like Mi Watch Revolve, Mi Smart Speaker ranked amongst the best seller for the brand during this period, while Mi Box 4k and Mi TV Stick continued to be the top-selling streaming devices across Amazon and Flipkart.

Speaking about the busy sale period, Raghu Reddy, chief business officer, at Mi India, said, "We are thrilled to share that Mi India registered its highest-ever sales during this festive season with 13 million devices across smartphones and other product categories. We introduced a wide selection of products and coupled it up with great offers and initiatives like the Mi Smart Upgrade to meet our consumers requirements. The milestone of selling 13 million devices is not only reassuring for us as a brand but the industry at large. We are looking forward to higher demand in Q4 and gearing ourselves to end the year on a high note by fulfilling the same. We are humbled at the response that we have received from our Mi Fans and users and is a consumer-first brand, we will continue delivering on our promise to bring the highest quality products at honest prices."

The company revealed that of the 9 million smartphones sold during this period, the Mi 10T Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9, Redmi 9A were some of the best selling devices during the festive sale. Xiaomi also claims that it sold 4 million smart TVs and Mi Ecosystem products and accessories. Of these, it sold over 450k+ Mi TVs and Home Entertainment products during Diwali alone.

The company also revealed that it has seen the biggest demand in the growth of 4K TVs this year, with larger screen sizes of 50/55-inch especially big on-demand as they saw over 50 per cent growth vis-a-vis last year.
