Four terrorists killed, 2 SOG men injured in Jammu encounter

Jammu, Nov 19 (UNI) Security forces have gunned down four terrorists in a fierce gun battle on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Nagrota area, here on the city outskirts.

"Four terrorists have been neutralized and one Police Constable injured in an encounter at Ban Toll Plaza, Jammu with Police, CRPF and Army," IGP Jammu wrote on his Twitter Handle.



He further wrote that the area is being sanitized.

Meanwhile, two SOG men of J&K Police were also injured in a gunfight with a group of militants in Nagrota area.

The gunfight which according to the officials, started around 0500 hours, led to the closure of Jammu-Srinagar highway.

"The gun battle started near the toll plaza in the Ban area of Nagrota when some terrorists opened fire at police and paramilitary forces," they said.

The militants, they said, were hiding in a vehicle.



The operation was later joined by the Army while in the initial phase of the gunfight, two SOG personnel were injured who were later hospitalized.

The injured have been identified as Kuldeep Raj (32) of Akhnoor and Mohammad Ishaq Malik (40) of Neel Qasim Banihal, Ramban.

Both have been admitted in GMC Jammu with injuries on neck and their condition is said to be stable.

However, reliable sources told UNI that the terrorists neutralised were of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist outfit and might have infiltrated recently from across the international border.

Tourism Committee rejig in MP

Bhopal, Nov 18 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh’s Cabinet Committee on Tourism was reconstituted on Wednesday, official sources said.
It will be chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while the Principal Secretary (Tourism) shall assume the mantle of Secretary-in-Charge. Members are Public Works Minister Gopal Bhargava, Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, Finance Minister Jagdish Dewda, Tribal Welfare Minister Meena Singh, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mahendra Singh Sisodiya and Tourism Minister Usha Thakur.

No more lockdowns in MP: Minister

Bhopal, Nov 18 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra averred on Wednesday that the COVID-19 situation is under control in the state therefore no proposal exists vis-à-vis another lockdown.

Bhopal, Nov 18 (UNI) The fatality figure owing to the ‘millennium scourge’ mounted to 3,115 on Wednesday in Madhya Pradesh where 13 fresh demises were reported even as the infected tally touched 1,86,655 with 1,209 more sufferers being detected during analysis of 22,815 specimens.
A Health Services Directorate bulletin pegged the active cases at 9,338. Bhopal District continued to have the dubious distinction of spawning the highest 238 new instances, Indore 194, Gwalior 123, Ratlam 53, Jabalpur 44, Sagar 40, Vidisha 34, Ujjain 27, Rewa 26, Dhar and Satna 22 each, Shivpuri 20, Khargone and Harda 18 each, Betul 12, etc.
