Stock market update: BSE MidCap index gains over 1%; ABB India surges 10%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE MidCap index was trading on a positive note at 02:40PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of ABB India Ltd (up 10.06 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Financial (up 8.46 per cent), Shriram Transport Finance (up 7.87 per cent), Honeywell Automation India (up 7.11 per cent) and Adani Transmissions (up 6.62 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While New Indian Assurance (down 2.98 per cent), Natco Pharma (down 2.14 per cent), Vodafone Idea (down 1.61 per cent), Motilal Oswal Financial Services (down 1.45 per cent) and Hindustan Aeronautics (down 1.22 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 1.21 per cent up at 16342.25 around 02:40PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 42.20 points at 12916.4, while the BSE Sensex was up 167.3 points at 44120.01.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, PNB and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Adani Gas Ltd., M&M, Hatsun Agro, Adani Transmission Ltd. and Tanla Solutions hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Terrascope Ventures Ltd., Pazel International Ltd., Neil Industries Ltd., Mukta Agriculture Ltd., Madhusudan Securities Ltd., Galaxy Cloud Kitchens Ltd., Jump Networks Ltd., Square Four Projects India Ltd., Goldline International Finvest Ltd. and Fervent Synergies Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
