No question hour in Winter session of Odisha Assembly: Speaker

Bhubaneswar, Nov18 (UNI) The Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly beginning
from November 20 will have no question hour, Speaker Surya Narayan Patro said here today.
The decision not to conduct the question hour was taken at all party meeting conveyed here
chaired by the Speaker
Among others Parliamentary Affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukha, Leader of Opposition
Pradipta Naik, Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra and government chief
whip Pramila Mallick attended the meeting.
The Speaker said the Assembly will sit for four and half hours every day.
The supplementary budget will be tabled on the opening day of the session.The seating
arrangement will be made following the protocol guideline of social distance norms.
All the participating MLAs and Assembly staff and others attending the session will have
to go for a covid test and only those having covid negative will be allowed to participate.
The Opposition BJP and Congress however expressed their strong resentment over not
holding the question hour.
Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik said the question hour would help the members to
raise various issues pertaining to their area.
He said one more hour should have been fixed for the question hour and strongly opposed
the decision not to have the question hours.
Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra also described the omission of
question hours as illegal and against the Constitution.
Senior members of the house have been given the option to participate in the proceedings
of the house through video conferencing while sitting at their home .
The Winter session of the house will continue till December 31 next.

SER to run fully reserved trains between Shalimar-Nagercoil & Shalimar-Thiruvananthapuram

Railway (SER) authority has decided to run fully reserved weekly Special Trains
