Stock market update: SmallCap stocks climb; Thomas Cook skyrockets 20%

NEW DELHI: SmallCap stocks were trading on a positive note at 02:46PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Thomas Cook (India) (up 19.91 per cent), Adani Gas (up 16.81 per cent), HFCL Ltd (up 14.2 per cent), Muthoot Capital Services (up 12.97 per cent) and Marksans Pharma (up 12.67 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Lakshmi Vilas Bank (down 20.0 per cent), PNB Gilts (down 7.59 per cent), Gati (down 5.39 per cent), Alok Industries (down 4.98 per cent) and Snowman (down 4.75 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading 0.9 per cent up at 16052.68 around 02:46PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 34.20 points at 12908.4, while the BSE Sensex was up 134.58 points at 44087.29.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, PNB and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Adani Gas Ltd., M&M, Hatsun Agro, Adani Transmission Ltd. and Tanla Solutions hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Terrascope Ventures Ltd., Pazel International Ltd., Neil Industries Ltd., Mukta Agriculture Ltd., Madhusudan Securities Ltd., Galaxy Cloud Kitchens Ltd., Jump Networks Ltd., Square Four Projects India Ltd., Goldline International Finvest Ltd. and Fervent Synergies Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
