Nuvem delegation to CM against coal transportation, double tracking

Panaji: A delegation of elected representatives from Nuvem assembly constituency led by the local BJP MLA Wilfred D’Sa on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant requesting to stop infrastructure projects facilitating coal transportation.

A delegation comprising of the sarpanchas of Loutolim, Verna, Nagoa, Majorda-Utorda-Calata, Nuvem along with Zilla Panchayat members of Nuvem and Colva led by the BJP legislator met the Chief Minister at his official residence and raised the concern of the people against coal transportation and double tracking of the railway route.

MLA D’Sa told media after the meeting that the Chief Minister assured that coal handling at Mormugao Port Trust will be stopped in a phased manner.

“The Chief Minister also assured us that both the issues will be resolved after the central minister visits Goa,” he said.

Nuvem MLA said that the people don’t want double tracking of railway line from Margao to Vasco.
