Puducherry publishes draft rolls for civic polls

Puducherry, Nov 18(UNI) The publication of draft electoral rolls for civic body elections had kick started in the union territory.
State Election Commissioner(SEC) Roy P Thomas in a statement here on Wednesday said that the revision of electoral rolls for civic polls is taking place based on the delimitation of the wards done in 2019.The Electoral registration Officers of Mannadipet and Nettapakkam ,Ariyankuppam,Bahour,Villinaur and T R Pattinam commune panchayats have published the draft electoral rolls.The notification of draft electoral roll has been prepared in accordance with the Pondicherry Village Panchayat (Registration of Electors) Rules 1974.
Mr.Thomas said if there is any claim for inclusion of name in the rolls or any objection to the inclusion of names ,it should be lodged before the Electoral registration officers before November 23 in respect of Nettapakkam and Mannadipet commune panchayat and November 24 in respect of Ariyankuppam, Bahour,Villianur and T R Pattinam commune panchayats in form 7,8 or 9,he said.
Other Municipalities and commune panchayats are also in the process of publication of draft electoral rolls and will be ready for publication during this week,the SEC said.
