Poker player arrested in theft case at Arpora

Panaji: A professional poker player who is accused of allegedly robbing US dollars 3300 from a person in Delhi was apprehended at a location in Arpora along with her associate by the crime branch of the Goa police.

Police said that Amrita Sethi along with her associate Akshat Jhamb was wanted by the Delhi police in connection with allegedly robbing a person in Delhi earlier this month. They were absconding since then the police said adding that Sethi is a professional poker player.

The information was shared with the Goa police by the Delhi police. “Being a professional poker player and regular visitor in Goa it was suspected that Sethi might have come to Goa”, said Crime Branch SP Shobhit Saksena.

Following which 3 teams were formed led by PI Rahul Parab, PI Anant Gaonkar, PI Manguesh Valvaikar and PI Sudesh Naik to ascertain the details, said Saksena. He informed that it was found that the accused persons had visited some casinos in Goa recently. “They were both eventually traced in Arpora”, informed Saksena. Both the accused were then placed under arrest by a team of Delhi police led by PSI Talib for further investigation. A Delhi registered car was also attached, police said.
