Mamata Banerjee urges PM Modi to declare Netaji's birthday as national holiday
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded that the central government declare Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birthday on January 23 as a national holiday. Meanwhile, reacting to Banerjee’ demand, Netaji’s grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose said that declaring the great freedom fighter’s birthday as a national holiday is not that important as the great freedom fighter always wanted to work for the country. The descendant of Netaji said January 23 should be observed as 'Patriots Day', or 'Desh Prem Diwas'.
